The tracht hat is the oldest and most traditional headwear in Bavarian tracht culture, and that is exactly why it is still relevant today.

The Felt Hat – the original

The classic tracht hat is a felt hat made from felted wool, in dark green, grey or hazelnut. It has a structured brim and a slightly indented crown. The hat ornament, whether Gamsbart, edelweiss or loden hat band, sits on the left side.

For men, the tracht hat is the finishing touch on a kniebund outfit. It does not belong exclusively to Oktoberfest but is the complete hallmark of the connoisseur at cattle drives, tracht parades and festive country fairs.

Women's Tracht Hats

Women's tracht hats have a narrower brim and a more femininely shaped crown. They suit long dirndl and formal tracht occasions particularly well. Pastel tones as well as darker shades in green and bordeaux are both options for women.

The Gamsbart – a Bavarian original

The Gamsbart as a hat ornament is a Bavarian speciality. It is made from the back hairs of the chamois, a wild animal of the Alps, and worn as a characteristic tuft on the hat.
