Belts with Traditional Buckle – Essential with Lederhosen

A belt is not an optional detail with lederhosen, it is part of the outfit. No lederhosen looks complete without a belt – the fly does not close properly, the look appears unfinished. A leather belt in brown or black with a handcrafted traditional buckle is the minimum.

On the subject of buckles: engraved edelweiss, stag or coat-of-arms motifs are classically Bavarian and suit traditional outfits. Plain brass buckles without engraving look more modern. Both are perfectly fine – the choice depends on the rest of the outfit. Those wearing a charivari tend to go for the plainer buckle so that too much metal does not compete in the fly area.

Charivari – the Most Authentic Men's Accessory

A charivari is far more than a piece of jewellery. In traditional Bavarian costume culture it was a personal accumulation – coins, teeth, claws, gemstone discs, small figurines, each standing for an experience, a hunt, a journey or a special event. You could read the story of its wearer in a good charivari.

Today charivari are also available in modern, understated versions for those who appreciate the tradition but do not have their own collection. Traditional Hats for Men

A traditional hat is the strongest optional statement in the men's traditional look. Whoever wears one makes it clear: this is genuine traditional dress, not a costume. The classic felt hat in green or grey with a chamois beard or hat band has stayed the same for decades – because it works.

At Oktoberfest, traditional hats are worn relatively rarely. At traditional processions, alpine events, Kirchweih and formal occasions, it is the finishing touch. Suspenders with Lederhosen

Suspenders are already included with many lederhosen. Those buying them separately or wanting to replace them should pay attention to colour and material: wide leather suspenders in brown or black look very traditional and robust. Narrow elastic suspenders in red or green are more modern and lighter. For Kirchweih and alpine cattle drives, the wide leather versions are the better fit.

Important: wearing suspenders and a belt at the same time is unusual in traditional dress. Those wearing suspenders skip the belt – and vice versa.

Men's Socks and Loferl

Socks are the most common weak point in men's traditional looks. Ordinary white sports socks with knee-length lederhosen are a mistake visible from ten metres away. The right solution: traditional socks in grey or green with a cable pattern, calf-length and worn at knee height or just below. Or classic loferl with thin socks underneath.
