• This number in centimetres roughly corresponds to the trouser size. At 86 cm waist circumference, that means size 48 or 50.
• When in doubt, better order one size up. Genuine leather gives a little after the first time it is worn.
• The shirt is always tucked into the trousers. The Lederhose must sit high enough so the shirt does not slip out.
• The braces on short Lederhosen should sit on the shoulders, not hang loose.

1. Never in the washing machine. Lederhosen are not washed like regular trousers. Water and leather do not get along. Exception: special leather-safe washing methods, which are best left to a professional.
2. Air it out after the folk festival. Beer scent and festival tent odours soak deep into the leather. It is best to hang the trousers in a ventilated spot for several days after the Wiesn.
3. Treat stains immediately. Beer foam, grease, sauce, blot immediately with a slightly damp cloth, do not rub. Never apply cleaning products directly.
4. Apply leather grease regularly. At least once per season, better twice. It keeps the leather supple and stops it becoming brittle. Deerskin needs more frequent care than cowhide.
5. Store it properly. Hang it up or lay it flat, never fold it. Avoid direct contact with other leather pieces, this can cause colour transfer.
6. Professional cleaning for stubborn stains. Taking it to a leather specialist is nothing to be ashamed of, it is a way to protect your investment.
