Winter Type Dirndl: The Best Colors for Your Color Type

The Winter type is the most high-contrast of the four color types in the classic four-seasons system. It is characterized by a cool undertone in the skin, similar to the Summer type. But while the Summer type favors soft, muted tones, the Winter type thrives on strong contrasts and clear, intense colors.

Typical traits of the Winter type: The skin is often very fair, almost porcelain-like, or alternatively very dark and deep brown. Hair is usually jet black, dark brown, or very deep brown. Eyes appear clear and intense — in black, very dark brown, intense blue, or sharp green.

The contrast between skin and hair is especially pronounced in the Winter type. This contrast is their greatest asset. It allows the Winter type to wear colors that would feel overwhelming on other color types: pure black, deep navy, rich burgundy, or vibrant fuchsia.
